Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #8 - Something New for the New Year

Welcome to The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #8
"Something New for the New Year"!

We ask that you create something that is somehow "new to you." You could try a new technique, use a new product, or create a new type of project that you have never made before. Just be sure to tell us in your description how your project is "New to You"

We are thrilled to have Butterfly Reflections Ink as our awesome sponsor this month! They are offering a $25 gift certificate to our lucky random winner.

Here is a little more about this new online craft products store from the owner Vanessa Middleton.

"My goal is to provide you with current products at competitive prices, prompt shipping and excellent customer service. Orders will ship within 2-3 business days and in most instances, you will have your fun new goodies within a week. Keeping current products in stock is one of my major goals Thank you very much for shopping with me. I know you have plenty of options and I truly appreciate it!"  Vanessa Middleton

Butterfly Reflections Ink has lots of items for mixed media projects like the entire line of Dina Wakely Media Paints, Gesso, and Gel Medium. Also, be sure to check out the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog to see some amazing projects made from products sold in the store.

Before we get started with this month's Design Team projects we have a couple of announcements to make.

First, we would like to say goodbye to our designer Lynn Adams. She will not be staying on for the next term. We will miss Lynn and her truly inspiring creations made in her unique mixed media style. We wish Lynn all the best in her future endeavors!

For our second announcement, we are welcoming a new designer to our team, Karen Crossen. Karen is an amazingly talented mixed media artist and we think you will be inspired by her fun and beautiful creations.  Be sure to leave a comment welcoming Karen so she feels right at home here!

And now, for some inspiration from our Design Team...

DONNA

Donna used her new Pan Pastels on the background and
it's the first time she used her Karen Burniston Tree Die.

RACHEL

Rachel tried a technique of stamping on tissue paper then "melting" it onto a textured canvas.

LYNN K

Lynn tried a new technique, using Inka Gold on the metal star.

Melanie

Melanie tried a new technique for her, decoupaging patterned paper onto glass.

Karen

Karen used burlap canvases for the first time.
She even made them herself by glueing the burlap onto a regular canvas!!

Please visit each designer's blog post to see details on how the project was created... also be sure to leave them some love while you're there! They all LOVE hearing from you.

We don't have many rules, but ask that you do follow the ones we have!

* Mention in your post how your project reflected something "new".

* Your post must link back to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge post

* Add a link to your direct post, not your entire blog

* You can combine with as many other challenges as you want.

* You can enter up to 5 times, create whatever you want, and HAVE FUN!

You have until January 31st at 11:59pm EST to enter! Remember... a random lucky winner will get a $25 gift certificate from Butterfly Reflections!
